The Eagle’s Nest Sunrise & Borith Lake Day Tour is a guided trip lasting 1 day in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, topping out at 3,200 m. It is graded Easy — short walks at viewpoints — viewpoint walks. 3 fixed departures are open from $65 per person, all-inclusive from Islamabad.
Eagle’s Nest Sunrise & Borith Lake — Hunza from Above, Then Gojal
Before dawn the jeep climbs above Altit to Duikar, the ridge everyone calls Eagle’s Nest, at about 3,200 m. Then the light comes: first on Rakaposhi, then Diran, Golden Peak and the Ladyfinger spire, until the whole Hunza valley is lit below you. That is the morning. The afternoon goes north up the Karakoram Highway past turquoise Attabad Lake into Gojal, to quiet Borith Lake at 2,600 m below the Passu glacier. Most operators sell these as two separate trips. We do them as one day, in the right order for the light. Local hands, fair price.

Eagle’s Nest & Borith Day Price
From $65 per person in a group of four to six. That covers the pre-dawn 4x4 to Duikar, the vehicle up the Karakoram Highway to Borith and back, a local guide, entry fees and bottled water. Breakfast at a Duikar viewpoint café and lunch in Gulmit are at your own cost. Pickup times move with sunrise, so we confirm yours the evening before.
Fixed Departures
Fixed departures are scheduled dates you join as part of a group, rather than arranging your own trip. 3 dates are currently open, each capped at 6 people. Every date is the same price, $65 per person. A $7 deposit reserves a place. Finally, the availability column shows how many places are left on each date.
Private & customised groups
These are private departures, priced by the size of your party rather than by a set date. Pick the band that matches your group and the price per person is fixed at that rate, across 3 options. The more of you who travel, the less each person pays — from $140 for Solo (1 Person) down to $65/pp for 4-6 Persons. What each band covers is set out in the table.
| Group size | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Solo (1 Person) | $140 | Private 4x4 and guide to yourself, sunrise to sunset. |
| (2-3 Persons) | $90/pp | One vehicle, shared, the sweet spot for couples. |
| (4-6 Persons) | $65/pp | Best per-person rate for one vehicle-load of family or friends. |
Is this trip right for you?
Yes — this is one of the easiest trips to say yes to.
Graded Easy — short walks at viewpoints.
Good to know
The highest point is 3,200 m. Moreover, most people feel nothing worse than short breath up there, and the pace is set to keep it that way.
However, one thing we do insist on: travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuation.

Why Karakoram Venture
Because the people who take you up this mountain are from it. Our guides grew up in these valleys, and they are our own team — not a booking desk handing you to whoever is cheapest that week. Every one of them holds a guide licence from DTS Gilgit-Baltistan and the Federal DTS, renewed each year, and worked at least five years in the region before applying for it. Most also hold Wilderness First Aid.
Because the safety is real, and we will name it rather than imply it. In addition, a satellite phone travels in every camp, we hold established helicopter-rescue contacts for this region, and we tell you exactly which travel insurance to carry. Budget operators cut precisely these things, because you cannot see them on a web page.
Because the price is honest. Indeed, local infrastructure is why $65 per person covers the trip from Islamabad rather than a stripped-down base rate. In short, exactly what it includes — and the handful of things it does not — is set out above.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can you see from Eagleu2019s Nest?
From Duikar at about 3,200 m above Altit you look across the whole Hunza valley to Rakaposhi (7,788 m), Diran, Golden Peak (Spantik) and the Ladyfinger spire of Bublimotin, with Ultar Sar behind you. At sunrise the peaks light up one after another.
How early is the start?
Early. Pickup is about an hour before sunrise, which means roughly 4:30 am in June and closer to 6:00 am in October. We confirm the exact time the evening before.
How high is Borith Lake?
Borith Lake sits at about 2,600 m in Gojal, Upper Hunza, up a short side road from the Karakoram Highway near Husseini. It is a quiet, reedy lake below the Passu glacier, much less visited than Attabad.
Do we stop at Attabad Lake?
Yes, briefly, on the way north. Attabad is the turquoise lake formed by the 2010 landslide. Boating there is extra and optional; most people prefer the time at Borith.
Why only April to October?
The Duikar track can be icy and the sunrise views often clouded in winter. Outside this window we still run Borith and Attabad as a shorter day, so just ask.
